Rotary Club of Jalandhar


The Rotary Club of Jalandhar( District 3070), formally Rotary Club of Jullundur, is one of the oldest NGO of the town and pioneers in North of India, devoted to the Rotary ideal of service through fellowship. It was chartered in 1951 and was the first club after partition of our country and our Rotary District 3070 formally 307. The first President of the club was Rtn. R.L.Sondhi and Secretary was Rtn Jagbir Sawhney.


Rotary Club of Jalandhar is blessed to have more than 40 PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS and more than 10 Rotary Foundation Sustaining members to its credentials.

Jaiswal (Club president for consecutive 6 terms 1952 – 59), Rtn. Satya Paul, Rtn A.N. Gujral ( Father of Late Prime Minister of India Mr I.K. Gujral), Rtn Balbir Raja Sondhi, Rtn SV Hans, Rtn Surender Seth, Rtn Adv Mohan Singh Sachdeva, Rtn K.C. Kalra, Rtn Dr Pawan Gupta, Rtn Barjesh Singhal and many more who have brought name and fame through their commitment and dedication towards service of mankind while serving as President of Rotary Club of Jalandhar.

The classification concept of Rotary allows the Rotary Club of Jalandhar, a membership compromising a high performance cross-section of Jalandhar’s successful business and professional men and women, all accomplishers in their own field ranging from Doctors, Engineers, Architects, Entrepreneurs, Educationalists, Industrialists, Defense, and Law etc.

The Rotary Club of Jalandhar has diversified its activities through its sustained work towards community development and has been able to attempt a number of service programmes such as Yearly Distribution of Uniforms, school bags, stationary etc to almost 2000 children of National child Labour schools every year, Construction of Public Toilets, Creation of Happy schools , Medical treatment and assistance to many needy persons, Employment generation, Education assistance for the needy students and endless other projects only because of generous donations of time and money by the club members.
